GCF selected for grant that matches donations
The Garnett Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the Patterson Family Foundation has approved our application to receive a grant that will match donations, dollar-for-dollar, up to $70,000. This is the second time our organization has been selected to participate in their match program, and we’re excited for this opportunity to unleash generosity in our community.
Our very first donation match campaign, called Garnett Cares, was an overwhelming success, exceeding the $70,000 maximum match amount. Much of those funds have been distributed out into our community for the following impact:
Repairs and updates to the historic Santa Fe Depot
Extended dugout and new fence installed at the American Legion baseball field
Support for women’s health including breast cancer screening, treatment, and more
Retention of special education teacher at local elementary school
Addition of book shelves and privacy workstation at Garnett Public Library
This year’s donation match campaign will again be called Garnett Cares and run the entire month of June, beginning on Saturday, June 1 and ending at midnight on Sunday, June 30. Donations that surpass the $70,000 max will still be received, but will not be matched. All matched funds will be used to address community needs and will be allocated and distributed at the discretion of the GCF board of directors. Funds cannot be used for gun raffles, fireworks, political organizations, county/community fair events, or donor-advised funds.
Please help us maximize this opportunity by donating this June so that your generous gift can be matched and make DOUBLE the impact for our community!
THANK YOU to the Patterson Family Foundation for your commitment to serve and invest in rural communities like ours!
