Generosity and Possibilities Celebrated at ‘Generations of Giving’ Event

On August 2, the Garnett Community Foundation proudly hosted its Generations of Giving celebration, honoring the generosity that shapes our community today while inspiring investments for its future strength.

The event, which took place at Troyer’s Prairie Gold, buzzed with energy, inspiration, and a deep sense of community. Board President Bonnie Deiter opened the evening with a warm welcome, followed by a delicious dinner and compelling insights from featured speaker, Steve Alley, who offered a fresh perspective on the transformative power of philanthropy.

Central to the evening was a bold vision: a community empowered to secure its future by investing in itself and building lasting resources. The messages marked a significant step toward realizing this vision, to ensure our community has what it needs to respond, grow, and lead for generations to come.

A key highlight was the announcement of the Foundation’s upcoming Generations of Giving Matching Gift Campaign, which launches September 1. The campaign will amplify gifts that establish permanent charitable funds—creating lasting resources to support our people, places, and priorities county-wide and foster a more self-reliant, resilient community.

The celebration continued with guests dancing the night away to live music by Scipio Bottoms Band. The Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to event sponsors WINGS, GSSB Bank, East Kansas Agri Energy, Kansas Health Foundation, and Nick and Audrey Bray, as well as to all guests who attended!
