New Giving Circle Launches to Support Women and Children in Anderson County

A new group in Anderson County is bringing women together to increase awareness of philanthropy and create lasting change. The Women of Purpose Fund, a charitable fund of the Garnett Community Foundation, invites community members to join a Giving Circle dedicated to improving the lives of women and children across the county.

The Women of Purpose Fund is designed to be an endowed fund, ensuring long-term support for issues impacting women and children in the areas of health, wellness, safety, and education. Grants awarded from the fund will go to nonprofit organizations addressing these needs.

“Through this fund, we can unite our voices, our resources, and our passions to strengthen our community,” said Bonnie Deiter. “Women helping women and children thrive—that’s the heart of Women of Purpose.”

Anyone may contribute to the fund, but the first 50 women who donate at least $1,000 will be recognized as the Founding Mothers and may help determine the grant recipients. Donations of any amount are welcome and will go toward building the fund’s capacity to award grants each year.

Potential grant-funded projects could include:

  • Basic job skills classes

  • Health fairs and free cancer screenings

  • Caregiver training for elderly patients or family members

  • Support for women starting small businesses

  • Computer classes for senior citizens

Grants will be awarded exclusively to nonprofit organizations, not individuals, ensuring broad community benefit. Community members of all genders are encouraged to support the fund. Men can make donations in honor of the important women in their lives—mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, and more.

To become a supporter of the Women of Purpose Fund, or to join as a Founding Mother, make an online gift or contact Bonnie Deiter at deiterb@yahoo.com.
