“All Things Kansas” Provides Valuable Data for Anderson County Leaders and Residents

A new online resource is giving Anderson County residents, community organizations, local leaders, businesses, and nonprofits access to important county-level data that can help guide planning, decision-making, and future community investment.

“All Things Kansas” is a free interactive online tool featuring data-driven mapping, reports, and insights for all 105 counties in the Sunflower State, including Anderson County. The website uses national, state, and local resources to help analyze and visualize data across Kansas communities in areas such as housing, education, food access, health and healthcare, and community vitality.

For rural communities like Anderson County, access to reliable local data is especially important when identifying community needs, planning programs, applying for grants, attracting investment, and supporting long-term growth. The resource can help organizations and leaders better understand trends impacting the county while also highlighting local strengths and opportunities.

One of the greatest benefits of the platform is that it replaces assumptions with facts. Rather than relying on perceptions or guesses about community challenges and needs, organizations and leaders can use real numbers and verified data to better understand what is actually happening in Anderson County. The data helps reveal the truth about local trends, allowing communities to make informed decisions based on evidence instead of anecdotal information.

“This is an incredibly valuable tool for our foundation and for our community as a whole,” said Julie Smith, director of the Garnett Community Foundation. “As we work to strengthen Anderson County through grantmaking, partnerships, and community initiatives, this data helps us better understand our community’s needs and opportunities. It allows us to make more informed grantmaking decisions and invest resources where they can create the greatest and most lasting impact.”

The platform may be especially useful for schools, nonprofits, healthcare providers, local government, businesses, economic development efforts, and community volunteers working to improve quality of life in Anderson County. By putting local information in one easy-to-use location, All Things Kansas helps communities make stronger, more informed decisions that can lead to meaningful and lasting impact.

Residents are encouraged to explore the resource and learn more about the trends and opportunities shaping Anderson County and communities across Kansas.

All Things Kansas is part of Kansas State University’s commitment to advancing economic and community development across all 105 counties. The project is supported by the Office of External Engagement. The data, maps, and reporting tools available through the platform are provided by the Center for Applied Research and Engagement Systems (CARES) at the University of Missouri with guidance and direction from the K-State team.
