Match Month Returns in September to Amplify the Impact of Charitable Gifts
The Garnett Community Foundation is inviting Anderson County individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to participate in its annual Generations of Giving Matching Gift Campaign, a month-long opportunity to amplify charitable giving and strengthen the future of Anderson County.
Throughout the month of September 2026, eligible gifts made through the Garnett Community Foundation will receive a 25-cent match for every dollar donated, thanks to the generosity of the Patterson Family Foundation. Matching funds allow charitable gifts to go even further, helping address today's needs while building permanent resources that will benefit the community for generations to come.
“Match Month is a unique opportunity to invest in the future of our community,” said Julie Smith, Director of the Garnett Community Foundation. "Every gift—large or small—helps build charitable resources that strengthen our community's independence, allowing us to meet local needs through local generosity.”
Since Match Month began in 2023, community members have contributed $224,232.91, leveraging an additional $200,250 in matching funds from the Patterson Family Foundation for a total investment of $424,482.91. Together, these gifts have created permanent charitable funds, strengthened local nonprofits, and expanded opportunities throughout Anderson County.
During Match Month, donors can participate in several ways. Contributions may be made directly to the Foundation, strengthening its ability to serve the community today and ensure lasting support to meet evolving community needs. Donors may also choose to give to an existing fund aligned with their passions or establish their own charitable fund to create a legacy of giving.
To celebrate this year's campaign, the Foundation will host two community events where everyone is welcome to stop by, ask questions, and learn more about charitable giving through the Foundation.
The Match Month Campaign Kickoff will be held Thursday, August 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Dutch Country Café. A second Match Month event will take place Thursday, September 10, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Posh Nosh.
